The research programme is managed by a board and a programme director.

The board has the overall responsibility for the priorities, quality and economy of the reserach programme, within the framework contract between Mistra and the programme host (in this case The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences).

The programme director has the executive responsibility for the realization of the programmme according to the programme plan and decisions of the board. The programme director is assisted by a programme secretary and an information manager. As programme director, Professor Jan Löfqvist, The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Alnarp, served from the start of the programme until he passed away in December 2004 (in memoriam – in Swedish).

The research is done within four biological and two chemical projects:

1. Use of sex pheromones and plant volatile compounds for environmentally safe pest control in pome fruit orchards
2. Pheromones and kairomones for control of stored product pests
3. Aphid control with semiochemicals
4. Protection of conifer seedlings against Hylobius pine weevils
5. The chemistry of pheromones and kairomones for insect control in crops and warehouses (Chemistry I)
6. The chemistry of antifeedants and other behaviour inducing compounds (Chemistry II)
